Cadet Shawn is currently our Cadet Commander and his father (as you can see) is also an active member of our squadron.

JOSEPH PIZZO, Captain, CAP

I would hope someone in his CoC puts him up for an award for his heroic action...

Persona non grata

That's very good story but an unfortunate incident.  God bless him and the victims .

Let's also give credit to the CAP Washoe Jeep Squadron, who had a burger booth in the pit area, only 200 feet from the impact site.

After realizing that there was need, they relit the grill and fed responders throughout that first night.

Being beneficiary of one of the first batch of burgers, after a much-longer-than-planned afternoon and evening, I can tell you that it really was a blessing, and I know that the SO, FD and other folks there thought so too.  The Sheriff's Office apparently doesn't have feeding in their disaster plan (I'll bet the next revision will!), so the ONLY option was the CAP burger booth.  Without them, the best anyone could do was snack stuff.

Some CAP responders were heroes in one way, but some others made a big difference too.
