I'm wondering what you guys would think if we could wear medic type armbands for ES if you are a first responder or EMT. just wondering what peoples thoughts would be.

Do you know why they wear the armbands in the military? It's not so you can find the medic.

It's so the medics can be identified by the enemy. Medics are "protected" under the Laws of War. (Or so they say...)

Do you think this would apply to CAP?

If you are qualified, there are already approved patches that can be worn on the BDU.

The are no medics in CAP.

i was just thinking because some fire department use it on bunker gear to easily identify first responders in a crisis

1) We're not "some fire department"
2) We do not respond to any crisis that warrants it.

The amazing thing my wing has found out over trial and error is, in a crisis, uncle bob and auntie jane are not going to put on bright orange safety vests....any one working the "crisis" will. Problem solved, your immediately identified as "help"... no need for more "bling" for what the safety vests already cover.

He's not a cadet.

I'm positive that any Ground Team Leader with a First Responder or EMT on their team is going to know it, and most likely everyone else on the team will know who that is as well.  Visual identification won't make any difference.

Persona non grata

This ain't WW II.............If your a EMT , nurse, doc ...wear the freaking badge on your BDU.

CAP is not a first responder.

CAP might be the first to reach a crash site, but that does not make this a first responder type organization.

Hey, eaker.cadet and NCRblues, take note.

your = indication of possession; belonging to you.

you're = contraction of you are; what you should be using above.

How about getting it right. Right now it makes you look stupid and lazy.

Boy, I get sick of that statement.  If we're the primary asset in the search for a missing airplane (which is the sort of incident you seem to be referencing), then we most certainly are a "first responder" in that case.  And, if we are the first on scene we most certainly should be prepared to provide the level of care allowed by CAP regulations.

And assuming that you're using "first responder" to indicate either police, fire, or EMS services, then we often are at least as capable of providing the same if not better level of medical care to those crash victims as are most policemen.

I think the point is we're not medical first responders.

Not trying to be lazy, and certainly not stupid. Do not like being called or labeled stupid either, i do not call or label you that way....
