Congratulations Lt! It feels good to wipe that butter off your epaulets, doesn't it?

Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

Expect to add 10% to what you were making as a 2d Lt.  Add about an extra 5% if you're current Form 5 qualified for "Flight Pay".   ;D

If it's anything like my Military Retirement check. President Obama said that the Cost of living hasn't gone up enough to justify a raise x 2 years.

That promotion and five bucks will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

That's alright, he'll take care of us with his Obama dollars.

Dude, you make it sound like he does not always tell the truth! Haven't you heard the story about when his father caught him cutting down the cherry orchard with his little hammer and sickle? There is also no inflation, and the economy is improving every day. Too bad those old butterbars were not made of gold: They would have gone a long way in this market.

Ditto on the congrats!  I had noticed the 1 in your email signature and wondered about the change.  I thought I had just missed something.

The COLA is actually determined by the Congressional Budget Office and enforced on retirees by the Office of Personnel Management.  They actually determined the Cost of Living has actually gone down but the decision was made not to lower pension payments to reflect the Actual cost of living.  In the case of Social Security recipients the LAW prevents them from lowering entitlements...I'm not sure if that holds true for retirees as well.  It had to do with that inflation of gas prices over two years ago, artificially raised the COLA then the price went back down.  Now that the Price of Fuel has climbed again expect a COLA next year...but if the price falls again, don't be surprised when the COLA is stunted again for a couple of years.

It did?

Sorry, Lieutenant Robinson; I don't think we should be discussing these things in this thread. Your promotion has nothing to do with the cost of living.

Another statistic that can be easily manipulated by changing the criteria. When gas prices go up so do the costs of everything that has to be transported-and that doesn't go down. it also effects the cost of food, housing, electricity. and clothing.
Again Thank You President the Honorable Barack Huessien Obama. Yes I will remember you on 13 November 2012
