Form 5 Checkride

I'm up for my checkout this week, maybe Monday, is this just like an FAA checkride? I'm pretty good with my flying skills, I've been up with a cap instructor twice and I feel comfortable with aerodynamics and FARS. I studied the 52-7 and 60-1. I hold a Commercial ASEL AMEL Instrument, with over 700 hrs tt. I have a form 5 print out which it gives me an idea, but what else you guys recommend I should study and go over?

. . good luck with ur check ride. i'm assuming that u have completed ur on line written exam recently, and have a filled in questionnaire for the aircraft. probably wouldn't hurt to have a weight and balance completed.
. . the fairly recent 60-1s, feb 2008 for instance, had several pages of information on how the form 5, and form 91, check rides were to be administered/taken. if u can not find one of these slightly older documents, give me an email addy and i will be glad to send u one.
. . i suppose i need a disclaimer stating that u will of course need to modify this information with any changes that have occurred since feb 2008. electronic flight releases and wimrs entries are two that come to mind.

downloading it now! after reading most of the required items, it looks like I only need to study the pamphlet, call and IP and schedule the checkride!  I think I might need a life outside cap lol

You do need to complete a number of tasks on the associated SQTR http://www.nesa.cap.gov/curriculum_material/ICSS/SQTRs/SQTR%20Mission%20Pilot.pdf. 

These involve either flying with a mentor pilot, could be completed as a Mission Pilot Trainee at a SAREX, or as a student at NESA.  You must complete four different grid searches, plus an Electronic Search.  These types of searches require much different skills that what you might be used to and may take some time to complete.  You will also need your Mission Scanner rating, two missions, the CAPT 117 test, and some serious study of the National Emergency Services Academy's (NESA) Mission Aircrew Reference Text: http://www.nesa.cap.gov/mascurr.htm

Speaking of NESA, attending their Mission Aircrew School is a quick way of completing all the requirements of Mission Pilot.  Act fast though, they may be almost full - http://www.nesa.cap.gov/

I'm doing my 2 MS sorties this Saturday, were having a sarex this weekend in FL, I would love to go to nesa but unfortunately  I'm leaving on active duty orders this summer for 5 months, so that is out of the question.  I printed out a bunch of information from that website you gave me and the nesa one, so I have plenty of material to go over while I'm activated thank you for all your help.

Take care on deployment.  You might want to order this small version of the MART that Vanguard stocks: http://www.vanguardmil.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6_2418&products_id=14896 It's an older, but very useful book that I carry on every flight.

There are also some newer copies floating around

Awesome, I'll see if I can acquire a free one from my unit    , question do you have any idea who needs to authorize the pilot appointments for example I'm waiting on the 2 o-rides ones for rotc and airplane "Cadet Orientation Pilot - Airplane" ,  cause they are showing pendings but I dont see anything on validation or approval, I know I can't do it my self but doesn't it still be showing up?

Your squadron CC (or designee) will be the first stop on the road to validation. Ask if they've seen it yet.

If not, there may be something missing – a missing prerequisite or safety item not up to date.

It will have to be approved by your Group (If you have one) and Wing DOV.

Also, did you complete this:

Enter your initial Form 5 using eServices->My Operations Qualifications->Pilot-> Checkride/Questionnaires->Aircraft->Add Initial Form 5 link and enter Initial Date and Initial Aircraft Type.

Yes I did, uploaded everything yesterday. Form 5, questionnaire, medial, license, type, BFR, everything, I'm already showing on e services TMP approved, vfr, instrument, pilot rating and all that except  both orientations, they still show yellow PENDING UNIT APPROVAL.

Talk to your CC, there must be a Validation that he still needs to complete.

Mouse over the "PENDING UNIT APPROVAL" and you can find out from the popup the approval status. It will tell you if it's pending SQDN, GRP, or WING approval.

It says pending unit approval, I emailed my CC and no word yet.  I will just give it time then.
