Hello I have seen several people wear MOLLE thigh platforms with first aid kits and such on them. MY question is geared more to the people who wear these......is it practical or not? I know it would be useful when you are just carrying select ground teams gear on your person like first aid kits and such.

I've worn a first aid kit that way a few times and found it to be more annoyance than it is worth. Not really necessary for CAP.

I have a Blackhawk leg bag that holds my bulkier gear very well.  HOWEVER, its like duct taping a toddler to your thigh as you try and walk through the woods.  And as far as sitting in a vehicle goes, forget about it.  I'm going to be switching to a butt-pack when I get around to reorganizing my gear.

As far as the MOLLE platforms go, they're great for armed individuals who need someplace to put a sidearm.  As far as first aid, flashlights, etc go, just carry them in your pack and leave the tactikewl at home.

I used to wear one on each leg while in the Army, one with a pistol and the other with a dump pouch for empty mags. I have seen them worn by some CAP personnel, and it is pointless. I have a first aid kit that is really more than I would ever really need in CAP with a tourniquet and a couple of Israeli dressings, and I will probably never need them, but can't bring myself to take them out of my gear, in fear of actually needing them once I take them out. My point of all this rambling is that I have this kit on my chest rig, and I have PLENTY of room. That is the beauty of using MOLLE gear, it can do whatever you want it to. Leave the leg rigs to the combatants, and don't hassle yourself with the pain of wearing one just for a first aid kit, not to mention all the flak you will catch for wearing the silly thing.

Must have been a dual. Probably someone already banned once before.
