No tie?

Wearing a jacket or sweater doesn't change the rules about ties.

Tie/Bow/Tab isn't required with short sleeves unless the service coat is over it.

The sweater and jackets do not make a tie required.

Quote from: ol'fido on March 25, 2011, 10:46:24 PMBITD, it was pretty common for senior members to wear the blue nylon flight jacket(and sometimes the green flight jacket) with the blues. The only other option besides the overcoat or raincoat was the thin poplin jacket(Brrrr!). Just FYI.

The blue nylon flight jacket is actually authorised over aviator whites & polos.  The green is not, but that rule is universally ignored where I am.

True, that's why I still don't wear one. Never have, never will.  The picture on page 37 of the uniform manual shows no tie.  I wear the short-sleeve shirt, no tie, and the light weight blue jacket.
1. Lightweight blue jacket = $30 = no tie = comfort.
2. Service jacket + overcoat (outside for weather) = $300+ = tie = uncomfortable.
I'll take choice number one everyday.
