Just sayin'. Which is why I dislike "totally anonymous" forums.

It takes a brain to distinguish BS from reasonable discussion?  >:D

Nice diagram though.... ;D

The diagram explains much Darin...if that is your real name... >:D

Its 100% true. What I love is when someones "argument" is 98% cut and pasted from Wikipedia.  Most people wouldnt dream of speaking to people the way they do when they have no concerns about it coming back to bite them.

Not only anonymity, but distance. After moving overseas I've had a couple of young teenagers whom I know personally make very rude comments directly to me. I know one of the moms personally as well and I hope he caught h*** when I copied his comments back over for his mom to read.

I propose a "Cap Talk" Convention......then we can settle our differences like reasonable adults: With drunken brawls ( as was foretold in the prophecies) and obscene shouting. Or we could just meet up at a soccer match.....

Major Lord
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

N Harmon

Replace "anonymity" with "alcohol" and you often have the same thing. Albeit for different reasons.

Anonymity often entices people to express what they really think and really feel. And as receivers, we rarely take this form of brutal honesty well. We value honesty, sure, but we usually value politeness more. So much more, in fact, that when people have the opportunity to be honest they often make a complete mess of it.

So what is the solution? Eliminate any and all anonymity on the Internet? Perhaps the emphasis on politeness goes too far. And interferes with people learning how to be constructive when being "brutally honest". And the result is we, as a group, lose out on good ideas because the people who come up with them lack the confidence necessary to communicate them. Or else express them so badly that they are rejected out of hand.

Sound familiar? It is a problem we see often in Civil Air Patrol.

Are you serious?  I didn't think that so many people watched that show.  Could be worse, you could be like me getting called like that musician "Joe Ely."

Nin, look at my last name. Mess with the letters a little bit, and see what you come up with. Let's just say that Darin and its derivatives isn't really all that bad.

Wando Shane Bagley

You, sir, win.

I'm not sure that that is necessarily a good thing, though.

Actually, the name has meaning ... I'm told Wando is a Sioux name meaning "Little but Mighty" (I'm Apache and don't use it for several reasons) and I despise the name Shane.  When I was in 2nd grade, the Alan Ladd movie of the same name was first broadcast on TV, and you'll recall the ending, where Brandon deWilde runs after Alan Ladd calling, "Shane!  Come back, Shane!"  My friends at school gave me the business about that for a LONG time afterward.
