This is going to sound like a stupid question but bear with me. What is the difference between male and female new style coats? We're cleaning out the supply closet and have a pile of coats that have no sizes in them nor any other tag except the manufacturer. The pictures in 39-1 look basically the same to me. Both have flaps on the lower pockets and both have a slit pocket by the ribbons. Help?

As an aside in conversation here, from a sartorial stand point.   The reason that men's and woman's shirts, coats, pants, etc open opposite is that in the ye' olde' times women of class, money, and status were dressed by a maid or servant it  was to allow that other person to dress them more easily.
