Cadet Records CPPT Lockout

So I know by regs an 18 year old cadet can not promote until they've completed CPPT.

I can not understand how that this is implemented in e-Services by locking out all data entry for achievements. Prevent final approval, sure.

So I'm left with an 18 yo cadet (as of Saturday, so CPPT was not possible last week) that passed a written leadership test and PT on Thursday evening. Now I have a sticky note (OK actually a task in my calendar program) to enter his results once I get him thru CPPT and the CAPF11 posts at NHQ.

Electronic records was supposed to make our processes simpler, right?

As of the 1 Feb you could have done CPPT in advance of his birthday, so if day-1 promotion was a priority, CPPT should have been done and posted already.

Level 1 generally takes a day to post at most if emailed to the right place.  I don't really see any problem here.

He's not eligible for promotion. He accomplished 2 of the tasks for his next achievement and they can't be recorded. The restriction is on promotion, not taking tests or PT.

So while we get the CPPT done within the time specified by reg we need to record results somewhere else for addition to e-services later.

I'm generally the first to defend the developers at NHQ. I earn my living as a developer.

I'm sure they have to try to figure out how the e-services modules are supposed to work based on our regulations. For someone possibly with zero CAP experience, that must be interesting reading.

From CAPR 52-10

c. All cadets, within 6 months following their eighteenth birthday (emphasis added), must undergo the same Cadet Protection Program Training (CPPT) that senior members must complete. If a cadet promotion is due during that 6-month period, then this CPPT must be completed prior to the promotion.

So yes by the regs he could have done CPPT between Saturday last and Thursday evening. If e-services made CPPT available to him before that it was not following the above rule. Two wrongs...

This is the first thread I've started. Perhaps just venting after trying to get cadets without internet access to finish Intro to Safety.

You're referencing the old version of 52-16.

As of 1 Feb, cadets can now do CPPT up to 6 months before their 18th birthday.  That was my nit-picky point.

Are you looking at the correct version of the reg? The new one (2/1/11) allows CPPT  participation at 17.

c. Cadets and CPPT. Completion of CPPT is required of all cadets within 6 months following their 18th birthday, or if a promotion is due during that period, prior to the promotion. Cadets become eligible to participate in CPPT upon turning 17 years of age.

Actually I was quoting 52-10. I know this has never happened before but 2 CAP regs are in disagreement

I don't see a contradiction.

52-16 says you may take it a year before your 18th birthday.

52-10 says you must take it within 6 months after your 18th birthday.

It's not like one conflicts with the other.
