This may seem like a dumb question but me and my wife just aren't sure.  We are going to an FTX at the end of Febuary and she brought up the point that it may be against regs for a male and female to share a tent even though they are married.  She is a major and the DCC for our squadron but isn't sure if there is a reg on this.  I'm a new senior member so I really have no idea.

Any ideas?
Any advice I give is worth exactly what you are paying for it.

Is it any different from you and your wife sharing a hotel room at Wing Conference?

Ok good.  She was just a little worried about it and I really thought it would not be an issue.  But I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Your wife is willing to sleep in a tent for an FTX? Hang on to that girl!

Well she's an officer in the Air Force and she also does Boy Scouts with me so she had better be ok with it.

I know this is a late post however I thought I would drop a line anyways. I do not think it would be against regs, however, I would personally suggest different tents. Mostly only because of the image it projects.

That a married couple shares quarters? This isn't the 1950's anymore.

Yep, I share accommodations with my wife all the time.  SAREXS, Wing Leadership Academies, NSC, etc.  The only ones that have a problem with it are the ones that are jealous. :P

I just meant if there are cadets... the minds of teenages and the like, ya know? I guess I am thinking of if it got to a "OMG, I heard something last night is John Does tent, hahaha" type of deal...

Cadets, like other people, will come up with dreadful rumors no matter what. There is plenty they can come up with no matter what you do.  I've certainly seen the usual type of teen gossip among cadets, some of which can be even damaging.  It is what it is.  If this is a concern for someone, perhaps they can get adjoining tents or rooms, then sneak into the other (like cadets do).

I would expect more rumors if they slept in separate tents.  :o

That's possible too.  idk...maybe SMs should try teaching their cadets to be above teenage rumors/gossip as much as possible.  That's certainly a Character Development issue.  I'm sure most anyone can think of horrible rumors and gossip from middle school/high school, from their middle school/high school kids, or from cadets specifically.  Teenagers, like adults, will do it but maybe CAP's cadets can learn to be more careful with what they say or spread.  I remember cadets saying dreadful things with various wing-level staff change issues in recent years.  It's sad - especially because I don't know that those officers deserved any of those rumors or the gossip.
