Foreign Officers

In a previous thread I indicated I have a officer who serves in the Irish Defence Force AC, GET A LOAD OF THIS........ A friend of mine who works with a retired German Air Force Officer at a AEROSPACE company just called to say that the guy want to join CAP.  He was an exchange pilot with the US NAVY and flew the A-7 back in the day.  Does any person here have any foreign officers serving in their unit, past or present?

The GLR-RSC has a guest officer from the Canadian Cadet Instructors Cadre who is also a member (goodfella, too). I believe he is a CAP Lt. Col. and a CIC Captain (their grade is provisional with job posting so he has been up and down the scale over the years.

He's in the Knight's Templar, too (but would not tell me where the Grail is).

There are actually quite a few CAP members involved with Masonry- KT is part of York Rite Freemasonry. If you do find out where the grail is, please let me know. hehe


As for this thread, I have to admit that I first clicked on it because I wasn't sure what "Foreing" was and was curious- thinking perhaps it was like Frocking or something like that. lol

I've seen South American and European (British and I believe maybe a couple of others) military officers who were CAP members.

Oner Florida Squadron had a World War II Luftwaffe pilot as a member. He became the Squadron check pilot and had the rank of Captain which would have been the equivlant of his Ludtwaffe rank. He flew JU-52 transport aircraft in Russia.

When I was a cadet in the early eighties, we had a former WW2 RAF flying Staff Sergeant in our wing. I can't remember which aircraft, but he told me he flew (and was PIC in)  bombers before he recieved an eye injury. He had to finish out the war as a tower supervisor in an Air Traffic Control Tower.

He is not a member of CAP.  His Lt Col is Honorary during his stay at the GLRSC and is "promoted" at the beginning of the school.  But yes a Great Guy!

Our Wing just recently had an Italian air force officer here for his NATO assignment....he just rotated home, he was an awesome asset for us it was a shame to see him go back home.

We had a German Luftwaffe Officer who was the commander of my squadron about 10 yrs back.  Nice guy, great asset.  I believe he's in Colorado Wing now.  The had an article about him in the Volunteer Magazine a while back

A squadron I belonged to had a retired RCAF French-Canadian officer; he'd moved to the U.S. to fly for United.

He had like hundreds of hours in the CF-5, the Canadair-built version of the F-5 and I think he had been an IP at Canada's big fighter base at Cold Lake, Alberta.  They could fit their F-5's with quick-change recon camera noses.





Great guy and a real asset to CAP, but I think he eventually returned to his native Quebec.

Foreing Officers is the act of pre-empting the room being called to order, like an incoming golfball isn't always going to hit where you're at, they may not actually come in the room either, but never hurts to be standing by..
