Wing Commander just announced that CAWG has crested 3600 members.  3620 to be exact per his email. 500 new members added since 2007.  Nice

DBlair

Well done!

Sidenote-

Not to take away from this accomplishment, but for some reason, I always assumed CAWG had more than that considering everything I hear about your Wing doing, etc.

Which are the super-wings? FLWG currently has 4161, and I believe there are a few other high-membership Wings out there.

Rob: I think that the 3620 number represents the adults, with about 1000 cadets added to that.  I haven't seen any email from the Wing King, so I could be in error.

Ahhhh  gotcha.  The email doesnt specify.  You FLoridians just must have a ton of free time on your hand then when your not out wrastlin' gators and such.  In CA we are more concerned about pressing issues of the day....do we legalize pot?  Do we re-elect Moon Beam, are we going to slide of into the ocean?.......Siiiigh

I stand corrected: the numbers are slightly more than 2000 adults and 1550 cadets.  The growth has been in cadets, as the adult membership is sliding down.  Not too surprising, given the high level emphasis on cadets-to the detriment of the adults.

Haven't seen any e-mail, but why does eServices say:

Cadets in your wing: 1552
Seniors in your wing: 2073

Indeed. We're fun like that, and we love gators- so much that we even put them on patches. lol ;)

Most likely because of fluctuations related to expiring memberships.

I have seen my wing and region fluctuate 100 in a day.

That's one of 10 reasons memberships should all expire at the same time, or at least on the same day of the respective month.

To put my own upside frown on this:

How many of those members are 000 or 999?

How many did CAWG lose in the same time frame?

More and more I am thinking we should have a single national 000 unit, or at least remove 000 members from troop strength reports.
There are some wings where the 000 unit is in the top 5 membership of that wing.

All memberships expire on the last day of the respective month.  I just verified looking at a unit view in member search.

So in theory if you check on 30 and then 31 Oct the number would be significantly different.

Then why does membership fluctuate day-day up and down?

Then why does membership fluctuate day-day up and down?

In theory it should only go up when looking day-day (new membership being processed). It should go down at the end of the month (membership expiring). The only exception would be if a member is 2B'd which will go down at the day of 2B, but I doubt there are that many 2Bs in a given day. Is this not the case?

Eclipse

I regularly see up/down fluctuations of fairly significant numbers day-to-day.

One Florida Wing member used to produce a spreadsheet of cadet memberships for every squadron in the Wing on a monthly basis. With the sheet, you could see what Squadrons were growing in membership and trends in recruiting (or lack of retention) It was of great value to a Commander to see over a year how cadet membership was holding up and when recruiting efforts were needed. Group DCPs could see what Squadrons were showing growth, were stagnent or losing cadet membership.

People transfer, Cadets become seniors, Some die.  Others join. These are what account for the daily changes, except for 2b's

Membership generally would go up more than down in the month as initial startups hit, non-renewals don't fall off until the end of the calendar month, but transfers in and out do reflect on a daily basis and probably even each other out.

FW

Membership numbers are always highest at the end of the month as unrenewed memberships always expire then.  As of today (according to eservices), 10/27/2010, membership in CAWG is:  Seniors  2073, Cadets 1555.  Total:  3628

The membership numbers reflect all classes of membership including patrons and cadet sponser members.

The nice fact is; membership is growing!

Oh, BTW; FLWG still is No 1 with over 4200 members

I prepared those a couple of times.  That went over like a lead balloon.  I included data like encampment attendance, Level One completion and all too.
