Georgia Wing has a yearly cold weather SAR-EX. I went last year as a basic, even know the weather wasn't what I expected it to be. We were sleves up most of the time. I just happen to catch the bug and got pretty sick during the excersise.

This year I am not going to basic but I am going to go as COM traniee. I look forward to it. Is anybody else going from the GA Wing. And if you went in the past, what was your most fun past times and experinces.

Do you know the dates this year? I thought about going last year but couldn't.

How do you do a cold weather SAREX in Georgia??

DakRadz

Apparently you didn't hear about the 3 times it snowed here in GAWG.

I remember vividly. No snow for 5 years in Alabama, then BAM!- snowman time.
:D
Actually enjoyed it, but it can get very cold in GA.

First, I do not know the dates this year. But Lt Col. Berg, the officer in charge of frostbite is in my squadron so when ever I know you will too. :) also you should have went it was a lot of fun. Go this year.

Next the sarex is held in the north ga mountains and it snow a he'll of a lot. It also gets very cold there.

P.S. Honor Cader, I didn't go to encampment this year because I was on a cruise but I heard it sucked. Is that true?

I would send a PM, but I want to nip this at the bud for any other impressionable cadets who view that.

No, it did not. Anyone who felt that way was generally those who tried to ruin it for everyone. They should also not be saying that to cadets who haven't gone. There were a few rough spots, but anyone not in Delta has no reason to complain. And even those of us in Delta had a lot of fun, for those who really wanted to be at encampment.

Those cadets who had an actual problem (not just being whiney) with people or situations were easily able to follow the chain of command to address the issue.
Encampment was fun, educational, and a pretty cool adventure for me. I would go again, as a basic, in a heartbeat.

Obviously, the cadets who nearly (or did) got sent home because of broken bones, serious strains, rips, tears, and sprains, existing medical conditions, and so on- the won't have a great opinion. But they shouldn't make it sound like no one should ever go.

If you really want to know what encampment is like, ask a trusted SM or cadet officer. Which is what you did by asking me, but still.

This is WAY off topic, I know. If any SM feels I should move it to PM, well, I can do that.

I am a nco just like you. I also asked my other fellow cadets that went and they said it suck from past years. So thank you very much!

DakRadz

PM sent, to avoid getting this even more OT.

P.S. Sergeant Sloane (or is it Chief? I can't tell...) Check my signature again- I'm a new C/2d Lt, not an NCO. FYI  :D
