I am definitely not looking to debate what I decide to carry my pouches on.. Whether it be a LBE, ranger rack, sar vest, MOLLE vest, or plate carrier is not the question.

I am looking for suggestions on what pouches people have gotten to hold the 24 hours gear to their choice to holder.  I would like specific brands named (as manufature process varies as does quality between companies).   For example... just saying an "ADMIN POUCH" does not help, because there are atleast 3 companies which make very different versions out there..

Lets pretend that cost is not an option.

Also, if you want to give me the placement of your pouches on your gear, or post photos of your SAR loadout, it would be appreciated.

LETS KEEP THIS CIVIL, and not flame others for their options.  Just post your gear, photos, or other information and not turn this into a debate

If cost isn't an object, there's a lot of different companies. Some common decent quality brands are Eagle Industries,  Blackhawk, Spec Ops Brand, Tactical Tailor, and others (that I don't even remember).

As for the pouches themselves, there are a number of different ones that are useful. Map, general purpose (in the military this is designed to carry stuff or a quart canteen), admin, E & E , utility, GPS/"gizmo", med kit, and radio pouches are all available. You can find a MOLLE pouch that will do just about anything. It's an old cliche, but what MOLLE pouches can do is "limited to only your imagination" (within reason, of course). Sounds stupid, but it's fairly accurate.

I would avoid pouches/gear that are specifically designed to carry weapons or ammo. Those are limited to pretty much those activiities, and don't really work all that well for other things.

This is one page that has a large number of all kinds of MOLLE pouches: http://www.combatreadyusastore.com/mollepouches.aspx . Yes, it has a lot of weapon and ammo type of pouches, but has many examples of others, too.

I use a Protech Improved Rack that was on clearance at uscav for $15, with following pouches:
5.11 Radio Pouch (For a scanner if necessary)
Condor Map Pouch (Holds Team leader's equipment+notepad)
5.11 10.6 pouch (SAR kit and survival kit) w/ 2 Wolfpack flagging tape dispensers
Condor gadget pouch (miscellaneous electronics)

I have a hydration system which also holds the meals, ponchos, and coat if necessary. My first aid kit (5.11) is attached to a thigh rig, along with an anglehead flashlight and compass pouch.

I prefer 5.11 pouches, as they have good quality control so all pouches will fit without fighting with your rig, and they're priced decently. SAW pouches also tend to be good for utility purposes, the Marine Corps coyote brown ones are available on ebay at decent prices.

Brand names come and go, and, as mentioned above, are numerous. Look for gear that is constructed of 1000 denier nylon because it is some of the most durable on the market. Double stitching is also important. Unless you are already familiar with a particular brand, buying on the internet can be challenging. You really do want to get a feel for the quality of an item as well as the size of the pockets or pouches- they can look deceivingly large online.

Stay away from anything priced in the bargain basement (unless it is on clearance), but unless you are independently wealthy, I wouldn't suggest buying the most expensive thing out there either. If you are going for that tacti-cool look, ignore slogans and banners saying "NTOA Tested & Approved" or "Used by Special Forces in the Field" or "High Speed Ninjas Love These Things!" because it is only marketing drivel. Do listen to what others say on this forum and others about what gear is good and what isn't. Definitely read reviews if there are any listed as well. Good luck!

Hawk200,  I use the MOLLE 100 round ammo pouches and the MOLLE grenade pouches.  The grenade pouch holds a small GPS, military strobe,
or a lensatic compass very well.  I use the MOLLE single 9mm clip pouch
to hold a large folder or a large multitool.  The MOLLE 200 round pouch
is a  good size between the 100 round and the larger MOLLE sustainment pouch.  Most of my pouches are made by SDS, a GI contractor.  Milspecmonkey.com is supposed to make a good admin
pouch.  You can't go wrong with Eagle.  If you use the gear for CAP only
you may be able to get by with civilian versions of MOLLE pouches and
save some money.

Where did you get the flagging tape dispensers? I looked for them online but could not find them.

Sorry for the late reply. I first found them linked from this very forum: http://captalk.net/index.php?topic=8075

The grenade pouch on an ALICE M16 mag pouch works well as a flagging tape dispenser.
