Yep

The next thing one will know

NASA will outsource components and shuttle / rocket assemblies to China and others like the airlines "luv" to outsource some maintenance overseas "because labor rates are cheaper."  Some is and some isn't

Maybe CAP can volunteer its time to help Rocketdyne / Thiokol, McDonnell/ Boeing building assemblies for future space programs
Maybe NASA contract could involve CAP SM with aeronautical, R&D, electronics, etc degrees....

Maybe that would be a real community service CAP could be to an ailing program.  Look out for those aerospace unions, tho...............

helidoc, please don't give them ideas....

One small step for mankind ...

(Was apparently too much for Obama, so he took us several steps backwards, as a nation.)

We built a Space Station .. that we can't even get to.  We have to rely on the Russians.

This is the Wrong Stuff.

It wasn't all Obama. The whole plan for Constellation replacing the Shuttle with a down time of 5 to probably 10 years already. This is just worse.

Wow now its Obama's fault

You guys ever read Aviation Week and Space Technology?

NASA's problems were well documented...errrr well reported on whatever slant you want for the last 10+ years and some of was on how it was managed...doesn't matter who is at the helm of Presidency.

Shifts back and forth in funding, funding not done right, etc etc etc.  That a Presidential problem?  NAAAW  it is a local MANAGEMENT level problem

Yep the Russians were first in space in 1958.......now WE are are in hurt of shambles..NASA ought to revert its name BACK to NACA ..The National Advisory Committee of Aeronautics where they started.  NASA probably ought to have stayed the course in aeronautics and left the agency to aeronautical engineers rather than political hacks who can not lead organizations in to the future.....

I strongly dislike the current president but I will tell you this is not his fault. This problem goes back to the late sixties and is actually the congress's fault as they control the purse strings. The shuttle never should have been built as it was. We should have continued the program laid down by Apollo and we would have been on Mars by 85-90 with colonies on the moon by now.

We'll never succeed in a Mars mission if we don't first work out the methods needed for living on another world/satellite on the Moon.

I guess they started documenting after they lost/wrote over the lunar landing tapes...
