It looks that I am going to be groomed for the DCC role (yes I know that thats not the propper functional addres symbol, but IDC), and the question is: Is there a minimum Specialty Track rating in Cadet programs to be appointed as DCC?

I looked in CAPR 52-16 and CAPP 216, and can't find it.

There isn't one. It usually comes down to, can you stand working around cadets for an extended period of time, if yes you're DCC.  ;D

Personally, I think that DCC is the most rewarding job in CAP if you can do it well. Good luck.

Having said that.

In an Idea World the DCC should be a Senior Rated CP guy.

Anyone holding that job would do well to move along in his/her training to get to that level.

Rule number one of being a CD/C is you do not talk...kidding ;D

Rule Number one always RTFM. RTFM even if you think you already know it. Know your close order drill inside and out. If it's not in the manual then it's not.

Never accept the answer: "no excuse sir" or "we've always done it that way" that allows the cadets to stop thinking. Challenge them when they say that and get them to think.

Always remember the adage you can give a man a fish... My hardest task is trying impart that to my cadets.

Once you think you have it figured out realize that you don't.  ;) Never stop learning and asking questions.

I have to completely agree with those statements.

I will add, the further along you are in the specialty track, the better. I am still drinking from the fire hose 13 months later.

Sheesh!  The things you learn.  ;)

You sure you're retired military?

You'll probably say you don't know what a Class VI Store is too. >:D

Next to CBPO on the way to the 4 Seasons store!

Back when there was an NCO's Open Mess and a seperate Airman's Club!  Everyone wore OD's (Cotton [darn] it!) and you tell what squadron someone was in a 500 yards by the color of his hat!

RFTM??

AKA: Read The Fat Manual   :)

As a former DCC and now CC, I'd suggest considering these three; Cadet Programs, AE & ES. That will give you a background of what makes up much of a cadet meeting. There may be a difference of opinion but for me I like to stay ahead of the cadets!

There is no minimum sepcialty track rating. but you should be at least a Technician. Get a good mentor tohelp you along the ride.and have fun. Good luck

Class VI - Personal Demand Items  ;D

It just didn't occur to me.  I don't swear but could if needed in three languages (learning #4).

Don't forget the news "Cadet Staff" guidebook recently published.  Know position descriptions, and make your Cadets know them as well.

CAPP 216 suggests assigning someone that has a senior rating in cadet programs into the Deputy Commander for Cadets position.

All the resources available for the cadet program are contained in the library portion of the cadet programs section of the CAP members' web site www.capmembers.com/cadet_programs/library with the most frequently used resources at the top.  In addition, don't forget to look at the cadet programs blog for the latest in cadet programs, available at www.capcadets.com .  This is a quick link to the capmembers page, not a separate web site.  ;D

Being the DCC presently, and the Wing DCP before that, i can tell you that OJT will happen.  read 52-16.  then worry about the rest of the manuals, regs, pams later on.

Start working on the CP pro development track as well, makes you more credible.
