Yes, they are very valid points.  We need lots of cash to do the things we want.  Thanks to our ties with the Air Force, we don't need sites for encampments and most of our NCSAs.  However, we do need money for AE, training, staffing, etc. which the AF doesn't allow or existing corporate funds are insufficient for.

It was hoped the BoG could get us there however, after 10 years, it doesn't seem like that will happen.....

IMHO, we need to spend some serious cash on a real marketing plan.  Let's come up with an organized, directed approach to donations, endowments and planned giving over and above the "united fund" or "Cap Cares".

A Foundation was organized a few years ago and needs to start working on it's own.  I wonder what's going on with that?  By now, it should be a totally independant entity however, it still is run through NHQ.

Depending on a few nickels and dimes will not cut it any more.  More and more of the money funding CAP is coming from our pockets (not unlike the old days).  I don't mind paying but, if you want me to donate the big bucks, I do want a say in how it's spent.  I'm getting tired of having my pocket picked clean and then have her say "go away".... ;D

.

I see CAP as having two separate loyalties.  The first is to the USAF as its Auxiliary.  As their Auxiliary, we receive appropriated funds, have missions assigned from them, some of us even wear a uniform that sort of looks like them.  However, I think that as an organization, we have allowed the "government mindset" to set in.

This side appeals to many because they want to have the association with the military.  They want the pomp and circumstance that comes with the association, ribbons, etc.  They want to do missions that help the Air Force, and they want to tell people they are members of the United States Air Force Auxiliary.

The hard chargers of this crowd tend to be the ones that want a CAP that is governed and run by the Air Force.  They want an Air Force General as the National Commander, like good 'ol John F. Curry.

Many of them even wish they could get rid of those darn heavy people with facial hair so their reputation as an Auxiliarist isn't damaged.

I agree. Its actaully to loyalties. And yes it hard too serve both.
