Why not simply reactivate SAC and call it a mistake to have cased its colors 17 years ago? ::) ::) ::)

Hopefully the new Commander's a Curtis LeMay type of officer.
"And Saint Attila raised the Holy Hand Grenade up on high saying, "Oh Lord, Bless us this Holy Hand Grenade, and with it smash our enemies to tiny bits. And the Lord did grin, and the people did feast upon the lambs, and stoats, and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and lima bean-"

" Skip a bit, brother."

"And then the Lord spake, saying: "First, shalt thou take out the holy pin. Then shalt thou count to three. No more, no less. "Three" shall be the number of the counting, and the number of the counting shall be three. "Four" shalt thou not count, and neither count thou two, execpting that thou then goest on to three. Five is RIGHT OUT. Once the number three, being the third number be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade to-wards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuffit. Amen."

Strategic Air Command is a lot better name anyway.  Global Strike Command sounds like some sort of evil comic book organization.

Because that would be admitting they made a mistake. And we all know THAT never happens. >:D

Does it have to be a "mistake" - there's no allowance that the USAF is simply responding properly to the ebb and flow of the world threat matrix?

The commands now aren't organized on the basis of strategy vs. tactics vs. supply. They're based on capabilities. So there's no need for SAC.

Neat patch, too.

A blending of the Hap Arnold Air Forces insignia; the globe from the 20th Air Force's patch; and the lightning bolts, unleashed from the mailed fist, of the Strategic Air Command.

I too like the patch!
