Operation Push-Pull

I got an intresting letter in the mail yesterday.

Seems the AF would like to pull me back on active duty for 5 days to test their ready reserve program.

Anyone ever do this?

I was of the understanding that all the services were recalling IRR members at regular intervals to account for them and make sure that they were medically fit. In the Army it's s supposed to be a one or two day event to update records, shots, and briefings.

Hopefully they're not getting to the retirees yet. My uniforms shrank.

When I was in the IRR, I was called to "active duty" for 1 day to get a physical. My "duty" lasted all of one hour at a recruiting office for the check up and a form to be filled out.

A 5 day call up may be for the same type of exercise however, if your orders do not specify a specific reason, there is always the chance you could be "extended".
Once your in..... they got you.

The only time I've heard this used was for the one day "musters" they do with the folks on IRR.

I do get a letter from ARPC every year wanting me to confirm my contact info, but that's about all I get from the Air Force.

When the services were calling up IRR members for recall to Active Duty. They had an extremely large percentage of notices returned due to not being a legitimate or current address (not to mention the number of people who just refused to report). Since than they have been very proactive in accounting for their IRR members. Most accountability drills are just one or two days. Maybe it's five days for this one for refresher training of some type.

Personally, In the last week I have received 5 calls from different AR recruiters asking me to transfer to a drilling unit. All of whom were informed that I would be happy to join their unit with the proviso that since I turn 60 this month, I would only be able to be with them until the 28th when my Retirement becomes effective.

Since the biggest reason I retired when I did was because they retired my plane out from under me, I was a Flight Engineer on C-141C Starlifters. If they want me back they'll have to spend some bucks to send me back to school.
They're going after "cheap" trained manpower so that kinda makes me not so valuable all of a sudden.

I was also only 42 points away from "sanctuary" which is a big deal to the Air Guard/Reserve.
