NOT A POLITICAL THREAD

It is now election day, one of if not the most important day for our country. Once every four years, we get to choose the leader of our country.

Remember, no matter who you vote for, no matter what your political ideology, just vote. Men and women died to give us this right. Men and women overseas are dying even now to give this right to others. Don't let it be a waste.
If you are confident in you abilities and experience, whether someone else is impressed is irrelevant. - Eclipse

A representitive democracy cannot work with out the voting of the citizenry!!  It is a privilege to participate in the democratic process.  Don't ever take it lightly or for granted!

Voted at an early voting location last week and the line took about 20 minutes. I think this will be one of the highest turnouts in recent history.

I voted this morning on the way to work.
The line was no longer than it ever is at peak hours.
About a 10 min wait.

My wife and I voted this morning, walked in, signed next to our name, voted and out the door in less than 10 minutes.

Yes we do get to vote in the flyover states  ;D

There is no early voting in Pennsylvania.  I got to the polling place at 7:30 am and voted at 8:15.  I was #170 with about 150 in back of me in line.  In 37 years of voting, I've never seen the line that long.   I think this is a great thing.

Well said.  And not only is it a privilege, it's your duty!

There is more to the election than just the office of President.  Get informed, then get out and exercise your privilege to vote!

I'm voting as soon as I get off work this afternoon.  They're even giving us an hour off to go do so.

I figure it this way:  if you vote, you have a chance to get the candidate you want; if you don't vote, you're guaranteed to get the candidate someone else wants.

This is the last year New York gets to vote with our steel lever machines... there's something satisfying about hearing the gears, clicks and "ka-chunks" as you pull levels and switches and know for sure your vote is counted.

I snapped this picture earlier today.

I miss the old machines. It's just not the same with the optical scanners.

In Yakima County in WA, its all done by mail... I hate it. well it has its pros and cons, like a pro you can vote when ever.. no standing in line and what not, Con- it can get lost in the mail...  >:D and they do.. at least thats what we were told 4 years ago...

Absentee.  As they say over here, "by post".

Just got back from the polls. I was up till about 1am doing last minute studying on everything on the ballot to make sure I knew exactly what I was voting for. This was my first election in Utah, and we have a number of local ballot issues and races I wanted more background info on. Thank goodness for the 'net!

hmm hopefully you all did. I can't even comment on the results... no really, moderators aside, that's illegal for people in the military to express such opinions, so value those freedoms, cause those getting shot at contracted them away for the sake of you. As much as that sometimes sucks, it's a very good thing that it's like that.

I voted last week when I went in to pick up my temporary cripple tag. I had leg surgery Monday and was still in the hospital yesterday.

I'm trying very hard not to express my true feelings about the outcome. I will say the country is probably going to see up close and personal how "things are done" in Chicago. I also believe if you have a job or own a gun you're now a marked individual.
"And Saint Attila raised the Holy Hand Grenade up on high saying, "Oh Lord, Bless us this Holy Hand Grenade, and with it smash our enemies to tiny bits. And the Lord did grin, and the people did feast upon the lambs, and stoats, and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and lima bean-"

" Skip a bit, brother."

"And then the Lord spake, saying: "First, shalt thou take out the holy pin. Then shalt thou count to three. No more, no less. "Three" shall be the number of the counting, and the number of the counting shall be three. "Four" shalt thou not count, and neither count thou two, execpting that thou then goest on to three. Five is RIGHT OUT. Once the number three, being the third number be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade to-wards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuffit. Amen."
