Just wondering if anyone has any inside information, if we will ever be allowed to put the American Flag on our field uniforms?

All of the proposals I've seen for OCPs if/when they come have the reversed field flag on the right sleeve.

I remember back in 2006 when we first put the flag on our uniforms.  IIRC, it was in response to a certain CAP/CC being mistaken for an el jefe from a foreign country during the response to Hurricane Katrina.  Next thing you know, we're wearing flag patches, US Civil Air Patrol on everything, etc.  At the time, the only military branch that wore the flag on their uniforms in CONUS was the Army, and that was done as more of a convenience in the pre ACU days so soldiers wouldn't have to keep putting it on/taking it off when they deployed.

I also remember when we were told to take them off in 2016 (a mere 10 years later), all the wailing, gnashing of teeth and "I'll give up my flag when you cut it off my dead body, you unpatriotic, anti American!" comments.  I took mine off the second the ICL came out.

Funny, for the first 75 years of our existence, we did just fine without it.  It's use is now common for our parent service, so when the time comes, I'll salute and execute.

Before that - 1976, for the Bicentennial. Everyone, and I mean everyone, were putting flags on their uniforms. Police, Girl Scouts, etc.

I like the flag, but am a minimalist and prefer to have as few things as possible on all of my uniforms.
