Joseph A. Montag, age 77, of St. Peter's, Indiana passed away Wednesday April 9, 2025 at Mercy West Hospital in Cincinnati following a brief illness.

Born July 28, 1947 in Cincinnati, Ohio he was the son of the late Joseph & Jean (Smith) Montag.  He was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.  On December 2, 1972 he was united in marriage to the former Ann E. Niese, and she preceded him in death on February 27, 2009.

Joe was retired, having worked as a computer controller for the Internal Revenue Service in Cincinnati.  In his leisure time he enjoyed motorcycling, singing, karaoke, reading, crossword puzzles, and trivia. 

He was a member of Creekside Church in Klemmes Corner, the Fraternal Order of Eagles,  Delta Kings Barbershop Chorus, the Tri County Harmonizers, the Eagle Riders Motorcycle Club, and the Civil Air Patrol.

Survivors include two children, JoAnne (Sean) Dwyer, and Joseph D. Montag both of Cincinnati, Ohio; two grandchildren, Brianna Dwyer & Sean P. Dwyer Jr.; three siblings, Jan Montag-Wight of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jeri Niese, and Jeff (Robin) Montag all of Brookville, Indiana. 

In addition to his parents and wife Ann, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert J. "Bobby" Montag who died 9/16/1996; two brothers, James A. Montag & Jack Montag; and a brother-in-law, William Wight.
