New ICL just came out on public affairs.  I'm not really in the CAP PA game anymore and maybe my interpretations may not be right, but it looks like
1.  Only one web page per Wing?
2.  No squadron facebook, etc. pages, only Wing level.
3.  Using official cap email addresses associated with social media is a good idea.  One of my CG Aux FB pages has been suspended for months due to "impersonation" that I suspect was partially because it was linked with a gmail account and not something that looked like official government.
4. Requiring that next levels up have access.  Good idea, but might be a bit difficult to do sometimes (ascertaining the right individual FB account to grant access to can be tricky).

I see glaring trouble with 11.6.1

"CAP Nexus of Continuity. A member's personal use of social media may form the basis for disciplinary action if there is a nexus (connection) between the social media channel where the misconduct occurred and CAP."

This WILL be misinterpreted, weaponized and subjectively applied. Another example where CAP, Inc. needs to stay out of member's personal lives outside of CAP.

Good luck applying these new regs to the 3/4 of the CAP social media pages run by former members.
"And Saint Attila raised the Holy Hand Grenade up on high saying, "Oh Lord, Bless us this Holy Hand Grenade, and with it smash our enemies to tiny bits. And the Lord did grin, and the people did feast upon the lambs, and stoats, and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and lima bean-"

" Skip a bit, brother."

"And then the Lord spake, saying: "First, shalt thou take out the holy pin. Then shalt thou count to three. No more, no less. "Three" shall be the number of the counting, and the number of the counting shall be three. "Four" shalt thou not count, and neither count thou two, execpting that thou then goest on to three. Five is RIGHT OUT. Once the number three, being the third number be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade to-wards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuffit. Amen."

Units and activities can have INTERNAL social media (facebook, etc) so long as it is restricted access and complies with the list of acceptable social media platforms. Also, the internal social media cannot be the only form of communication to members unless every member has access to it.

As I understand it, some supplemental material should be coming out soon to help explain what can and can't be done under the new rules.

Yep, Facebook pages are public, they can still have private groups.

I'm sure that there are probably some banging squadron Facebook pages, but I suspect a fair number are functionally inactive with relatively few followers.  And given FB bias against actually showing posts to followers, its probably not a big loss to deactivate them.  On the other hand, it does give a way for an active local PAO to practice their craft and interact with other local pages in a way that could generate interest, so I hate to lose the tool.

But, given the difficulty of actually maintaining control of social pages as members cycle in and out, it does make some sense to consolidate.

One might have given thought to working out the details prior to putting out this change letter and prevented 90% of the angst that it has caused so far.

Cut 'em some slack. It's not like they're supposed to be experts in communicating.
