Cadet Airman Maxwell P. Nelson
Palwaukee Composite Squadron
Illinois Wing

Maxwell Patrick Nelson passed away at his home February 19, 2025. He was born September 28, 2010 in Barrington to Adam and Shirley Nelson.

Max is survived by his mother, Shirley; sister, Lily; grandparents, Myrna Nelson, and Ron (Sue) Nelson; aunts, Carolyn (John) Wagner and Laura (Matt) Burton; uncle, Ralph Bonk; cousins Ted (Becky), Laura and Julianne Wagner; Zev, Tova, and Ezri Burton; and other cherished cousins and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Adam; and grandparents, Eugene and Gisela Bonk.

Max was an incredible son, brother, and friend to all. Smart and intelligent, he had many interests and hobbies. He was always expanding his passions and his thirst for knowledge had no boundaries. As a true tinkerer, he was building things starting at a very young age.

Along with being a space enthusiast, Max was fascinated with astronomy and was furthering his interest in aviation as a Civil Air Patrol cadet. He loved taking pictures of planets and planes. Max was an animal whisperer. He never met a creature that he didn't like and he absolutely loved his dog, Hazel and his cat, Kedzie. Self-taught in both piano and guitar, Max was proud to perform for family and friends and share his many interests with others.

His friends knew him to be open-mined, loving, funny and accepting of everyone. He will be dearly missed and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
