Robert Newton Barger III died December 2, 2024 with his wife, Jo, at his side.

Robert was born in 1938 in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Catherine O'Brien & Robert N Barger II. He attended universities of St. Thomas, Minnesota and Illinois, where he received his PHD and served on the Newman Center Staff.

Bob taught at Eastern Illinois University before moving to South Bend, Notre Dame, IN to teach in the ND College of Arts & Letters and serve on the ND travel committee. He loved writing and was a published author in computer ethics

Bob and his wife, Jo, had a beautiful home in The Point at North Shore Woods and hosted may travelers and family while traveling to 7 continents themselves before moving to Holy Cross Village and enjoying that community until the day Bob died.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Josephine, and over 50 nieces and nephews around the world. He was loved and will be greatly missed. Jo gives her most sincere thanks to all the caregivers and wonderful staff who helped Bob and continue to help Jo and so many others daily.
