Lt. Col. Jeffrey S. Travers
Headquarters
Connecticut Wing

Jeffrey "Jeff" Steven Travers, age 79 of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away on November 10, 2024. A man of warmth and unwavering dedication to his family and profession, Jeff's commanding presence and infectious laughter touched the lives of all who knew him.

Jeff was the devoted husband of Lynn Travers for 57 years. He is survived by his loving children: Nicole Garvey and her husband Michael, and Kyle Travers and his wife Maria Garcia Fastoso. Jeff was the adoring and cherished grandfather to Jackson and Molly Shea Garvey, and Max and Sienna Travers. He is also survived by his brother Peter Travers, and nieces and nephews Alyse Sachs, Stephen Brody, and Erica Martell and her husband Greg. Jeff was predeceased by his parents Mildred and Frederick Travers, in-laws Shay and Marion Brody, sister-in-law Kathie Travers, and brother-in-law Barry Brody.

Born on February 26, 1945, in the Bronx, New York, Jeff moved to Dobbs Ferry, New York, at age 7. He graduated from Dobbs Ferry High School in 1962 and later from Pennsylvania Military College in 1966. Jeff's early years were marked by spirited sibling rivalries with his brother Peter, much to their parents' dismay. In a heartwarming turn of events, their relationship grew stronger than ever in Jeff's last year and a half. There is no doubt that their mother was smiling down from heaven saying, "Finally!" Jeff and Lynn's love story began at a Friday night Shabbat service during college. They married on August 20, 1967, Jeff at 22 and Lynn at 20.

After proudly serving two years in the Army as a First Lieutenant in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, they settled in Yonkers, New York, where their daughter Nicole was born. Jeff's civilian career started at Arthur Anderson, followed by a position as an auditor for General Foods. In 1977, the family moved to Glastonbury, Connecticut, where Jeff began working at Pratt & Whitney, and they welcomed their son, Kyle. In 1990, Jeff founded Travers & Co., his own accounting consulting firm. His passion for his work was evident in how he brought life to spreadsheets and remained deeply invested in his clients' success.

Never one to sit still, Jeff dedicated 17 years to volunteering with the Civil Air Patrol. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and Deputy Chief of Staff for the Connecticut Wing, mentoring countless young people and imparting invaluable lessons in aviation and leadership. Jeff's passions extended beyond his professional life. He had an unmatched ability to tell jokes (mostly inappropriate), a love for flying and cruising, an appreciation for fine dining, and an unwavering devotion to Diet Coke. His enthusiasm for technology was evident in his long-standing love for Apple computers.

In February 2020, Jeff and Lynn began a new chapter, moving to Vitalia at Tradition in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. Jeff took great pride in their new home and was warmly welcomed by the community. Throughout his life, Jeff created treasured memories with his family, particularly during their 42 years on Woodhaven Road. His love and adoration for his wife, children, and entire family were the cornerstones of his life. Jeff Travers was a character through and through. His laughter, stories, and commanding presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
