Someone told me the minimum age to be trained in flying in CAP is 14, is it true?

FAA regs first .... then its up to the CAP CFI to decide if said 14 year old is ready for glider, or 16 year old is ready for airplane, and that they will take them on as a student?

Maturity levels at that age are all over the place. Some could jump right in, some would need to wait. Just because parents think their's is ready doesn't make it so. LOL

•      Glider – Age Requirement: 14 years old
•      Powered Aircraft – Age Requirement: 16 years old

Pilot (Airplane)
•      Age Requirement: 17 years old

Pilot (Glider)
•      Age Requirement: 16 years old

Pilot (Balloon)
•      Age Requirement: 16 years old

CAP Observer Rating (3 Levels: Basic, Senior, and Master Observer)
