CAP9907 is a mod, entrusted to decide when a thread has outlived its usefulness,
or strays into areas that this board doesn't walk in.

If you were / are in "trouble" the admins would tell you, otherwise, thread locking
is just a part of a well-managed board.

Do you know how to look at your private messages? Whenever I've had a thread locked, the Admin/Mod has always sent me a PM, letting me know why. Unless, it was locked due to comments from others on your thread. But if you were the offender, they usually PM.

After reading the thread in question, you need not worry, Cadet.  It's pretty evident that where the thread went wrong was the same as many others... members who have a plethora of opinions and a strong desire to express them even when they have absolutely nothing to do with the thread at hand.

What wasn't said (until the very final comment) was that what motivates us isn't the ONLY factor.  What's more important is that you are DOING something.  No, there is nothing wrong with wanting more "bling" as that is one of the few sources of "pay" we get.  Not to say that it's the most important "pay" we get.  For us Seniors (and I imagine some of you Cadets who are in Leadership Roles) seeing the success of those in your charge is (for me, at least) the most enjoyable "pay" we get.

Don't let anyone belittle you for the amount of "bling" you have or don't have.  But I don't think that wanting to get that "bling" is a bad thing.  It's not for everyone (etodd, especially!) but some of us do enjoy the bling.  It is a physical manifestation of the hard work and copious amounts of time we have invested into this organization.

Best of luck on getting your Community Service Ribbon!  And (no matter your motivation) thank you for taking YOUR time to give service to your community!  Well done!
