Anyone know if the Oval ES patch is authorized for wear on the ABUs?

As of right now, it's not, because it's not in the signed transition document.

They both need to get off the uniform and into the shadow box.

They should put an expiration date on all CAP patches that no longer conform to USAF heraldry rules.

Ew. More like at the bottom of the drawer that collects odd bits of debris...

I've always said this. There is clear guidance on the shape and design of patches and insignia. Use it.

Agreed. If I recall, that's part of the reason FL wing changed their patch.

Five years from now sounds like plenty of time to get all patches in line with USAF heraldry rules.  That way the BDU and out-of-reg patches all go at the same time and everyone has plenty of time to exhaust their current patch supply and design a replacement.

Thank you very much JC004 for just answering the question. You were very helpful.

The July 7th clarification that was just published indicates that those patches are specifically not authorized on the ABU, however they do remain authorized on the blue bdus and I don't think there's any intention to remove them from that uniform

Another difference I noticed is that unlike the blue BDUs, on the ABU a pocket patch is a pocket patch and there's no distinction made as to which side you want to put it on
