I'm trying to catch up after work got in the way of CAP activities...

I happen to be involved in APRS-Wx and CWOP, helping run servers for the APRS Core, and the CWOP dedicated servers. I can likely answer a fair number of questions on that topic, and perhaps on numerical prediction (weather models).

But, while I think we all are agreed that weather is key to our mission effectiveness and safety, is there any interest in pushing for a specialty track? Do we have a sufficient number of members to self-start this, or support from local USAF (or other services) Met detachments to train and sign off? How would unit commanders respond, or, for that matter, AOBDs and ICs, when the weather weenie says, "No-go for weather" with a real discussion?

Great discussion. Thanks, all!

ps: We dodged Jonas here in OKWG. I've colleagues who are still teleworking, and some who haven't been home yet. Including one who was trapped in DC and should be flying home to OK today!
