Got my commission last week -- the wait wasn't much more than a week.

So, guys; for those that have had ample opportunity to try it, with a combination of both CAP grade *and* your admiralty commission, does it *still* take both those and a buck-and-a-half to get a good cup of coffee??  ;D ;D >:D

I'm still waiting.

And I'm one of the few that was really in the Navy once and really went to sea!

I think this may be a Gilbert and Sullivan moment.  Does Nebraska have a ship called the HMS Pinnafore?

Eh, it's more likely that you belong with the Pirates of Penzance!  ;)

I wonder how the pirates got THERE!

Or is it a retirement community for pillagers over 55?

"NSS Pinnafore" does have a nice ring to it.

The Shuffleboard tournament will begin at 1600 followed by cocktails on the Admiralty Deck.

Yes, it does!  Me, I'll command my fleet from my own flagship, NSS MacArthur.  (Why MacArthur?  You're going to have to read my novel The Things We Leave Behind to find out.)

I wonder what the Nebraska state staffers issuing these Commissions are thinking with the sharp rise in requests.  ::)

And they may  just be going to some functionary in the Dept of Tourism who's not making any connections, or devoting any thought as to why, but still grumbling about having to make more trips than usual to supply for those darned certificates. ;D  You guys may be lucky.  If the requests go above a certain threshold, I'll bet that some bureaucrat somewhere will want to start charging for them, or something equally misplaced and inane..  But y'all won't care, 'cause you've got  yours!  Hooray!!

Even J. Fred Muggs was a Nebraska Admiral.  NOW I feel really insulted!

(Note to cadets and officers who don't have to shave every day yet:  J. Fred Muggs was a chimpanzee who made appearances on the "Today" show back when it was brand new and Dave Garroway was the host.  This was back in the 1950's before the perky Katie Couric was born)
