Other than the 14 May 2010 memo by Maj Gen Amy Courter, is there any other direction or instructional material on WHAT to enter into eDiscrepancies?  I am looking for a power point slide show, Region, Wing, or Squadron training/interpretation materials.

FWIW, I have noticed that some pilots seem not to use eDiscrepancies to report equipment issues or anomalies.  How is eDiscrepancies used in your unit or in your experience?

What would YOU put in eDiscrepancies if you found some equipment anomaly during pre-flight, in the air, or in a post-flight, or it was mentioned to you as the UMO by the A&P who completed a periodic inspection?

For example, oil canning of the horizontal stabilizer?  An instrument gage that seemed 'off'?  A mechanic report of a 'small' amount of metal in the filter at the scheduled oil change?  etc.?  Do you or other pilots in your flock of aviators refer to the equipment list in the POH where Cessna indicates "R" required items or equipment for FAA certification, "S" Standard equipment items, "O" optional equipment items replacing required or standard items, or "A" Optional equipment items which are in addition to required or standard items - as described in Chapter 6 of the POH?

If it is an aircraft discrepancy, put in in there! If you aren't sure, contact the aircraft crew chief and let him/her decide. Anything that needs fixing should be there for future reference.

Forgot one part of your question. If a discrepancy discovered and is fixed by a mechanic it will be noted in the aircraft maintenance log books. No need to put it in the eDiscrepancy system.

If you see an aircraft discrepancy, describe the it with as much detail as possible. If you did some troubleshooting, put that in there write up with the result. Don't tell the mechanic what to fix. Just tell them what you see and let them figure out how to fix it.
