From CAPM 39-1:

Pullover Sweater and Cardigan Sweater: 6.1.1.3. and 6.1.2.2. ...NCOs will wear embroidered rank insignia on gray epaulet sleeve.  Alternatively, NCOs may wear metal pin on rank insignia on gray epaulet sleeves.

Top Coat and All Weather Coat: 6.1.8.2.1. ...NCOs will wear embroidered rank insignia on gray epaulet sleeve.  Alternatively, NCOs may wear metal pin on rank insignia on gray epaulet sleeve or males may also wear 4-inch chevron rank and females may wear 3 ½ or 4-inch chevrons centered on the outer arm halfway between the shoulder seam and elbow.

The CAP NCO embroidered rank on gray epaulet sleeve is not available yet, but the metal pin on version is available which goes on the blank epaulet sleeve.  The pin on CAP NCO grade also goes on the blank rank tabs for the gortex parka and the new black fleece jacket.

CAP NCOs do not wear the epaulets on the service dress, service uniform, aviator shirt, lightweight blue jacket, etc.  Just on the sweaters and topcoat/all weather coat.

The embroidered NCO grade insignia on the grey epaulet is available. You have to special order it from Vanguard.
Been that way for a couple of years now.

I think we're talking about different epaulets.  You must be referring to the ones pictured in the original post with USAF style NCO grade insignia and CAP leters above (like the officer epaulets).   I'm referring to epaulets with the new CAP NCO grade insignia with CAP letters within the chevrons..

The USAF style is being phased out.  I can only assume that the embroidered CAP NCO epaulets for the aforementioned outer garments will be available from Vanguard. However, 39-1 doesn't have any figures showing them.

There's supposed to be an update to the 39-1 coming out in the near future.
Maybe it will be there.

Is that a definite maybe?

The last "near future" lasted 10 years.

Score 1 for Vanguard!

And "Nco Rank & Cloth Rank" has all CAP Cloth insignia.

Would be SOOO much better if it was just a link without a place holder image.

Question is, did you let them know? Send them an email?

Done a lot of online webstore work?

((*sigh*))

This is what's in there for those interested.

Outside of SSgt/TSgt, it's ok looking...could have just done CAP in the middle and made it better though. But that's on us, not them.

Eclipse

Nothing really wrong with the insignia, but the "CAP is unnecessary and looks busy.

Considering the tri-prop, NO ONE WOULD BE CONFUSED (even in no light).

VG fixed some of the issue already with the name of the section. All it took is an email. Yes the picture is a place holder. Yes, they are aware it needs to change. Yes, I brought up our "grade vs rank" problems, so now it's NCO Insignia instead of NCO Metal Rank. These folks provide us a great service our otherwise small organization would have trouble with. They are also willing to address issues, if made aware of them.

Not a fan of the SSGT or TSGT, with the blue arc. Looks too...weird. Could have just added CAP to the top without it.

Sure, but then you need to sew on two items, and you know some would leave the "CAP" off.

There were some member designed..."better" stuff:

Only problem with new NCO stripes is that there is no prevision for first sergeant.

Why would we need one on the seniors side? Check 35-1 for your answer.

Because it is ubercool  ???

The CyBorg is destroyed

I do not understand why there has to be the big "CAP" lettering on the chevrons anyway.  To me the full-colour prop/triangle replacing the AF star is quite enough and does not look nearly as cluttered.

Since NCO's are not saluted, the time-worn argument of "trolling for salutes" cannot be used.
