Looks like the open-back straps could potentially allow it to serve as a Drag Rescue Device in a true emergency. Not something that OSHA or the NFPA would certify mind you, but it could work in a pinch.

The description on the site mentions this:

A Frontpack is a pack or bag that allows for access of equipment from a persons chest.  Frontpacks, first and foremost, allow for easy access of gear without the pack... great for getting at those survival essentials.  Not only survival essentials can be carried "up front" but things like your GPS, map, compass, cell phone, first aid kit, and trail snacks, are just a few.  These items often need to be readily accessible or placed in a location that does not disrupt the contents of a backpack.  The RIBZ Frontpack is great for various outdoor activities to include hiking, backpacking, hunting, fishing, or just exploring.

So by limiting the storage to in front, it makes it impossible for something to end up in back and disturb your gear back there.

It is orange, it is open in the back, and it has pockets in the front!

I found some other cool stuff on that site, especially some small containers I think I might throw in my coffee kit.  Pretty cheap, too.

Interesting concept.  Combine that with a backpack for mega storage.  Or wear a fishing vest.  Although I'm a big fan of blaze orange for some things, I'm surprised to see that on a prepper or survivalist oriented site.  If the defecation hits the ventilation I would want to be as inconspicuous as possible.  A bright orange vest, or an orange/red backpack emblazoned with "SURVIVAL KIT" pretty much guarantees someone who is less prepared will consider relieving you of your stuff.
