If they smell they aren't usable and should be tossed.  Dry cleaners can do some amazing stuff, but you should have it done, store them properly
and dispose of the rest.

You might actually have something growing in there that is toxic or at least could trigger allergic reactions.

A unit's supply should not need a hazmat symbol on the door.
