Double windsor knots

Ok ive watched 2 video's on how to tie these [darn] knot's and i still can't get it right. Anyone here have a
better option than watching videos? or maybe one that makes it pre-k simple?

Pre-K simple: clip-on

Other viable option: find an older gent that you know, like father or grandfather or uncle and ask him to show you how.

Getting it right just comes with practicing it the right way a bunch of times; +1 to having somebody show you.  If you can't get the double-windsor, try the much simpler Four-in-Hand knot.

Unless your a cop wearing a tie or a security guard learn to tie a tie.  It looks better and says alot compared to a clip on.

And unless you are a very, very short person, the standard USAF blue neck ties are not long enough to tie a double windsor knot with.

Apologies for the thread bump everyone. To the OP, are you still having trouble with the knot? If so, I have something that just might be useful.

I used to wear a cop-like tie for the first couple years when I was in CAP. My father taught me how to tie a double windsor a couple years ago, and haven't looked back since. Every time I wear Blues, I ALWAYS wear a double windsor, and 99% of the time, it comes out to the correct length.  It is actually pretty simple, once you get the hang of it. 

The way he described it to me was like this (it helps to stand in front of a mirror): Fat side of the tie on your right, skinny on the left. As a rule of thumb, you can adjust the length of the tie by moving the skinny side of the tie (while you are beginning) either higher or lower. Next, place the large (right side) of the tie over the skinny (left). Bring the tie around under and up through the hole made by the crossing the sides. Next,  take the fat end of the tie, go around and down under the V, and bring the fat side of the tie up and then back down through the hole. It should now look like a bulky "V". Place a finger on the V, bring the fat side of the tie around to the left (over your finger), bring it back behind the hole, and then push it through the hole between the actual knot and the tie that was just wrapped around it.

Don't fret if it takes awhile to get, I know it did me. I hope that this post was of some help you.

Personally, I find a double Windsor. Too big for the collar of blues. Just go with a full Windsor.

Before i lost enough weight to wear blues (  :clap: ) i wore a clip on with blazer uniform and none with my short sleeved aviator.

Now that i can wear Blues, I always wear a traditional tie. Then again i have to wear long sleeves because of my tattoo coverage also  .  So no sans tie short sleeve shirts for me.....

I don't know what a "double Windsor" is, I only know a Windsor and half Windsor. I guess you mean a Windsor knot. I used to wear one until I lost a lot of weight and my face became thinner, then it was too large and I switched to a four-in-hand or a half Windsor. The Windsor is good if you have a round face or a beard. It's large and symmetrical. There are a lot of videos on Youtube that will show you how to tie it.

Back when we had thick knit ties you could not use a Windsor, it ended up 6 inches across.
