My eServices shows that I have earned the Membership Ribbon (yay!). Do I have to let the squadron commander know, or is it my responsibility to get the ribbon myself?

Thanks!

You can order it yourself, but I would only do so if there are other items that you need to order from Vanguard - paying twice the price of the ribbon to have it shipped is lame. You can ask your squadron to order one for you with their next order and buy it from the squadron and pay no shipping (depending on the squadron it is possible they even just have some MBRSHP ribbons in stock that they can sell you.

The squadron may be having a presentation for your membership ribbon. You should ask before you actually buy one.

Sometimes squadrons will keep a supply of ribbons on hand.

Rachel, to echo what others have said, to cut an order with VG just for one ribbon is ripping yourself off.

Wait and see what your CC has in mind.  There may indeed be a ceremony for your "Blackheart" ribbon (my name for it because the black stripe points toward your heart), since that's usually the first major event for a new member.

Congratulations.

Everybody had great replies, hopefully your Squadron has a ceremony.

Have fun in CAP.

I try to keep a supply of Membership ribbons on hand so I can give a member their first ribbon as a senior member.

Everything else, they're on their own. 8)

Only the Membership ribbons regularly, although at times we will have a few others.

When I was a Commander I had a bag of Membership, Leadership and Red Service Ribbons. We would make a big deal out of awarding them.
