Hey,

Do you guys know if Massachusetts Encampment has Blackhawk helicopter O-Flights usually (better yet- will they have those this year)?

Thank you!

It depends on the availability.  I know the first year at Fort Devens there were blackhawks.

You mean me, Cashboy?

To the intial question: are you a basic cadet attending?

There were Blackhawk O-Flights last year. I'm not sure if there will be this year. I'm leaning towards "no," because history has shown that Blackhawk O-Flights are pretty rare, probably because of reduced availability as a result of the war currently going on.
I don't want to give anything away, but I will tell you that there are a few interesting high adventure activities planned, for which I am very excited. Hope to see you at Encampment this summer!

Sergeant Donovan, are you attending the Wing Ruck March?

PM sent. Don't want to get the thread off topic.

Oops sorry Palmer. I truly meant you. Just got confused with someone I met at a past staff training weekend.

I wonder who does the flying. If it is Bosox I am sure they will be available. They're no longer deployed, unlike last year. If it is some other Aviation Battalion, I would have no accurate guess.

I'd be willing to bet that whoever is available does the flying, whatever service they're in. For what it's worth, a National Guard unit flew us last year.

I'm just pro Bosox. Three flights with them, my squadron commander used to be their battalion commander, my JROTC SAI used to be in the unit too, and they are right next to my squadrons row of buildings.

I really hope that we do get some O-rides this year for the corps cadets. However, like Donovan said; if they are a no go, then you will still have plenty of other activities to keep your yourself occupied and your mind off of blackhawks.

What else does MAWG have at their encampment? Besides the drill, classes, and normal stuff. What sort of special events do they have?

You mean besides an outstanding staff ;D?
But seriously, it has varied from year to year. There's usually/always an O-Course and LRC's.

Considering applying for staff next summer. But you will have to convince me  ;D

Sgt. Papa

well, excuse me Cashboy but if being on MAWG Encampment Cadet Staff isn't a number one priority, that you would do ANYTHING for, then you shouldn't do it. Sorry, but that's how we do it here at Mass Wing.

Just kidding, go for it if you want.
