Ill be performing Colorgaurd at a pretty prestigious event for my squadron with 5 other cadets.
Im holding the State Flag(Flordia) and i was wondering if anyone knows of a good Color Gaurd guide or anyway i can get more information about colorgaurd other then the training i do at my squadron.

6 cadets in a color guard?

Why do you need 4 flags?

Your Color guard commander should be figuring out what to do.

Try Air Force Manual 36-2203 Drill and Ceremonies and CAPM 52-4 National Cadet Competition, Attachment 12, Color Guard Manual of Arms.

2 flags, 4 gaurds

I don't think I have ever seen a color guard where the guards outnumber the color bearers. Interesting.

Four guards required why?  I have seen and been part of color guards with multiple flags but never more than two guards.

Definitely no way to turn them... We tried it with 3 flags (squadron, US, Fl)... You can't turn affectively.

Sure you can. It's all a matter of technique. And a lot of practice.

Try turning 2 guards 1 US, and 4 Service flags.......you can turn them....as Sardragon said...it is all a matter of practice.

Certainly. And you can turn them with precision.

I am still trying to figure out a color guard with two color bearers and four guards. What exactly is the point?

They want to use the extra rifles they have lying around?

Not that I am advocating any of them, the only formations I can see are:

Guard    Bearer    Guard    Guard    Bearer    Guard (I guess the colors would be well protected)

or

           Guard    Guard
Guard   Bearer   Bearer    Guard  (If it were a really tough neighborhood)

or

Guard    Guard    Bearer     Bearer     Guard    Guard (To give the guards someone to talk to while the flags are being posted, perhaps?)

or....I don't know. (Where is the "Scratching My Head" smiley?)

Im not sure why we are doing this, But i am going suggest we see if we can change it, It is incredibly hard to turn. This is the formation

Gaurd Gaurd [State]Bearer [Country]Bearer Gaurd Gaurd

[Nothing is 'required' were just doing it. Im not sure why we have it set up this way, But it is incredibly hard to turn.]

EDIT:

If you were to suggest a new formation, What would it be, with the same ammount of people.

We might also try a 8 person colorgaurd, Im not sure how that would work o.O.

abdsp51

Ditch the extra guards in the formation, use them as alternates for it.  The middle flag is your pivot point unless you do colors reverse and practice, practice, practice and do not accept anything less than outstanding.

Why must you have 8 people on the color guard?
If you only have two flags to present....you only need four members in the color guard.  The other two members can go to the even and help out...but not perform.

That is what I have always done on my color guards.  You have 10 people on the team...that means you go six extra bodies to help out make sure the uniforms are perfect and get everthing just right.

Our extra bodies would pick up covers, also.

Personally I would just leave them on the ground until the end of the ceremony....but yes....that is what the other members are there for.
