So what are some tips to get the cadet o the quarter award. What do the people awarding this award normally look for in the cadet? Thank you.

Eclipse

Cadet of The Quarter is not an award which is used everywhere, and the standards and requirements are different depending on your unit or wing.

In most cases the way to get it is to score high on tests and PT, be very active, and participate in activities outside your unit.

We pick ours by finding a cadet who really stands out to the Executive Staff.  A cadet that has been really going above and beyond helping with outside activities, community service and willing to help their peers as well.

And on a side note im glad to see other squadrons call it the "Cheeto" also

There's a conversation about this on CS right now.  Most experienced leaders agree the criteria should be at least initially based on
objective standards to insure fairness.

Why is it called the "Cheeto"?

My squadron used this when I was a cadet.  It was based on achievement test scores, PT evaluations, inspections, and general enthusiasm for the program.

Fixed. >:D

I have the same question.

No idea what my squadron's policy is. All I know is I got nominated for 3 quarters, won once. The other 2 times no one won, so yeah....
I love the moderators here. <3

I think participation and enthusiasm meant more to the DCC in my squadron than test scores to be honest.

We put our top cadets into a locked room with 10 lbs of boiled spagetti.

After 30 minutes....the last one standing is cadet of the quarter.   ;D

To the OP.......since COQ is a local program....you have to ask your local leadership....all other answers here are next to useless.

I dont know why in the other squadron but in ours the cord award is orange.. So it has jokingly been named the "cheeto"
