Once again, the personal opinion of an NHQ staff member not suported by regulations.

From what I understand, 000 went the way of the dodo in my wing, so we don't have that option. One of my squadron's former commanders was basically forced to retire when they cleared 000. Something about the Wing CI and CAP-USAF not liking how many people we had in there.

2b flags a person and can create a huge issue in returning to "active" CAP service.  If person has to go on sabbatical for what ever reason, should not be so treated.

Not always. A voluntary resignation does not flag them. They just have to rejoin and go through the whole process again.

A "voluntary resignation" is often an excuse for a commander to flag a memberhsip. I can't tell you how many times I've seen this happen.  If I was inactive, I would go Patron or just let my membership lapse.

We've had an IC and his minio, er, mission ground team operating out of 000 before. At the time when it was popularly considered that being listed in 000 was like being in the penal colony. No one wanted you.  Wing cleaned it out and actually pushed most everyone back to units. Granted, this was a while back - but from what I'm hearing here it still is possible.

An inactive feature, assuming it's properly implemented, would be a nice tool. I remember seeing a cadet who hadn't showed up at any meeting or activity for over 6 months suddenly appear for an O-ride. An inactive member feature would help keep fun activities as a reward and an incentive to stay in.
