How many is too many?

So far everyone from my girlfriend, to my grandmother is going...

Should I cut it down?

I mean is the mitchell THAT big of a deal?

I mean in one aspect I understand I've worked my bum off for two years to get this

But on the other hand, We're taking like 2 cars.

Check within your squadron, ask them how many is too many. If they say to pack to the rafters, pack to the rafters, and make it a huge deal. The Mitchell is no small feat. This just might also be a good time to bring in some that you think might be interested in CAP. Just ask your Commander.

I know that a lot of units will hold a separate presentation for the Mitchell, Earhart, Eaker and Spaatz that is held separately from the meeting, or in conjunction with a planned awards ceremony.  Some squadrons also just present the award just like every other, which I think is a disservice to both the cadet and unit.  However, you really should coordinate the presentation with your squadron's leadership.  They can give you a better idea of what they already have planned and it will provide you an opportunity to express your concerns and desires as well.

Congratulations on earning your Mitchell!

When I got my Mitchell, I think my parents, grandparents and maybe my brother was there.  I was C/CD and the C/CC and myself both got ours the same night.  We had cake and pizza and stuff.  I don't remember if there was anything special done for my Earhart.

If you think your girlfriend would be into it, it's kind of a tradition that she would put one shoulder board/epaulet sleeve on your uniform while the presenting official puts the other one on.

Yeah, so in a month when you break up, she'll be plastered all over your family photos!!!  I always made it a point to not have "girlfriends" in photos of significant events when I was a "kid".  I didnt tell them....I just made it happen that way.  And yes, I really did think like that when I was a cadet. Just a piece of advice I got once from an ol' salty.  You know....just sayin'

Flying Pig has a point I guess... Wasn't thinking about the pictures, replace girlfriend with parent then.

I'm thinking that a tattoo with your girlfriend's name would be a bad idea as well.

As to the Mitchell, we have an awards ceremony separate from the squadron meeting. The mayor, state representatives and Wing officials all show up. You get to invite as many guests as you want. I hope your squadron makes this a special event, because it is a big deal. Congratulations.

This.
I'm starting to regret it, personally.

Anyway, mine was presented by my squadron commander, rank slides put on by the CC and Deputy for Cadets- (Of course, my CC and DCC were both outstanding mentors and we are close, inasmuch as cadets and officers can be). It all depends on what you (or your mother ;D) want to make of it.
