Fellow FLWGers! What is the selection board like? I can't get any info from my squadron because no one has yet been to an NCSA.

Going to the selection board does not equal going to an NCSA.

There are a few components that factor into your overall score, things like the mile run, board score (how well you answer approximately 5 or 6 questions), and written test.

From there, your score is ranked among other attendees.  There are some trophies given for top overall and per-phase, and if I recall top per-event, the top ranked people will then be given a higher priority to their applications (known as "green light") in the national system.


From there you wait until March 16th or so to find out if you've been "slotted" as a primary or marked as an alternate for each NCSA you've applied for.

Well, having gone to it last year...

It's one of the more academically-focused activities FLWG has. You have to study up on your leadership, aerospace, current events, and general knowledge. There is also the PT element. If you do go, don't be intimidated by the review boards. Just report properly, answer the questions, and move along to the next part. This year they are somehow managing to cram the whole thing into 2 days- Check in day 1, and the actual boards day 2.

Check-in is on day 2 as well (if I recall, you always have those late people), it's just easier to have everyone check in the night before.  The main thing that prevented the activity from being a 1 day (Saturday) was cramming in all the events, a big time consumer was the PT component, however with that being offered on Friday, things should be easier.

I look forward to being able to just drive home on Sunday, since I don't feel like driving home on a Saturday night after being at a CAP activity all day.
