KRYY Cadet

I have an observation ride coming up, and I was wondering if it would be possible by some way to fly from KRYY-KMCN with at least two cadets on board, and then release one cadet to a guardian at KMCN. Please help.

What's an observation ride?

If you're talking about an Orientation Ride, as in you're the pilot, you can generally fly wherever you want to pickup cadets, transport the aircraft, etc.

However...

Whether the ferry time will be reimbursed is up to the O-Ride coordinator in your wing, and usually dependent on the number of cadets you will be flying that day.

O-Rides can go between any points you like or circle the pattern as long as the tasks in the syllabus are properly covered.  Its not uncommon for a pilot to fly three at once and plan a route that has 2 different airports 45 minutes away and change seats at each landing - a great way to maximize your time without wasting too much of it on the ramp.

..and drop off a cadet at a different airport during a switch, and, or not, pick up another? I've done that- when the CC(s) are in the loop, and parents/authorized persons are there waiting.

But as noted- the syllabus needs to be completed for that segment to count. In your case, thats 94nm, that almost sounds like CAP airlines .. :)

..and without at least three cadets in the aircraft it may be hard to stretch all of a syllabus into that long of a leg because it's not just level flight- and that distance, plus the return flight certainly is a lot of "level flight".

But without the full set of details, including region/wing/unit supplements that may govern the flight activities, it's hard to say.

Thanks alot everyone. I'll have to check in with the commander, but it seems like it'll be okay. Sorryy about the observation ride thing. I guess I was thinking about a chief observer.
