My intent was ONE uniform for ALL.

There was a time when everyone wore the same BDU. Rank insignia wasn't worn if one didn't comply with weight/grooming standards.

Considering the OCP uniform authorized for CAP has full color insignia (barring atypical exceptions) and a uniquely identifying tab, it would certainly be quite practical to allow everyone to wear it. Everyone would get the same economy of scale advantage.

Voila! One uniform for all.

And standardize the color to just one for the polo (either blue or black [I have both colors and lean more towards the black a touch more]) and eliminate the screen-printed version (which looks like crap after one washing).

Preach

Quote from: NIN on November 13, 2025, 07:32:56 PMNational supposedly saying to a wing "if a member comes in uniform, they can participate regardless" sounds incredibly apocryphal. You go to the National Conference and they specify what uniforms may be worn for the event.  For example, there is usually a "no utility uniforms or flight suits" prohibition.  Its not the Wild, Wild West there.

I have been to conferences where a gaggle of c/Amn show up in ABUs and I was told "They don't have blues yet." Well, OK, but "appropriate attire," for the gravity and dignity of the activity is still a thing, so show up in a collared shirt and khakis or something.

You wouldn't show up to your sister's wedding in a pair of grubby jeans and a hoodie with the excuse "I don't have a suit yet," right?

You wont hear me disagree with that.  I think the distinction needs to be clear that its a uniform type, not a specific uniform.  If you have OCPs, and it's a field night, you should be allowed to wear them even if 99% of your squdaron is still in ABUs.  Happened in active duty that way during the BDU/ABU transition and the ABU/OCP transition. Saw plenty of formations with mix and match.  Part of the game.

CAP needs to stop trying to out Air Force the Air Force.

I have several VHF EFJ 531E Handhelds available.  These are the newest of the EFJ 5100 ES series.  Version 6, as commonly found in CAP.  Firmware version 6.16.3, enhanced display enabled (two line so shows both channel and zone).  Programmed with new CAP national plan less the encrypted channels.  I can program your wing code plug if available. Must give a CAP ID to buy.  Radio only, no battery or charger.  Antenna options available.  Good price.

Programs  with PC Configure 2.14.5 (available free at W9CR.org).  Programming cables are available at reasonable costs from BlueMax49er, KJ6ZWL.
