Title: Rejoining within 2 years
Post by: c5engr on May 04, 2018, 07:06:23 PM
I am rejoining CAP after being out 18 months. Besides what 39-2 says, am I in for any other surprises?
Thanks!
Bob

You get to do the finger print game again!

True, as did I when I left for 20 months.  However, once you rejoin, your official records do not show a break in service - just that you didn't do much for along time.

If you pay the back dues it's seamless. Otherwise you will have to be reappointed to your last grade and lose TIG. If you don't meet the requirements under latest CAPR 35-5, you may come in as a lesser grade. The payment of back dues will eliminate that.

Where was / is your CAPID residing right now?  (It's usually at your last unit of record).

You should discuss with that CC the fact that you intend to come back, if nothing else they
can give you the F-Print forms.

Otherwise, as mentioned, it's just write a check and submit forms, just had someone do this
and it was no biggie - about 3 weeks and everything he had, including non-expired ES stuff
was lit up.

Do NOT dawdle. If you go past the 24 month time frame, you lose a lot. No catch-up on the dues, returning rank is less negotiable, ES quals evaporate, among other things.
