Recently, I moved from Squadron DCC up to Wing staff as the DCP. beofre I left, I had planned some O rides for my unit for yesterday. The airport (which is where the unit meets) is only 5 miles from my house and its located in the same hangar I flight instruct at. so I wanted to be there for the festivities.
I think I may have stepped on the toes of the current DCC who took my place. Didnt mean to, butI realize now thatit is hard to let go. being a DCC is like being a parent. Andits hard to just let someone lse raise your children when you have been doing it for 10 years. But I realize that I have to let go and I also realize I cant hang around juat that squadron because it may give the impression that I am favorite for them. I want to and plan to get out to all the units. But, like I said, its doable, but hard. Just wanted to share.
I recently made a Group to Wing move, but I do/will still participate with the Group if invited/required. As long as you aren't trying to do your old job, you shouldn't be stepping on anyone's toes. While you shouldn't be attending their meetings regularly, I am certain that no one would look disfavorably on your visiting the squadron from time to time (with the foreknowledge and approval of the Sq/CC, of course).
Quite frankly, there's no problem with your old unit being your "favorite" as long as that isn't influencing how you treat them versus other units in your Wing position. We are all products of our individual histories.
Good points. Our Sqaudron is organized a little differently. The Squadron Commander actually loves for me to come around. SInce i do work in CP, I still want to fly andbe involved in ES, so they still count me as a Squadron pilot. As such, I am coordinating some missio scanner training for the squadron.
I'm sure that the squadron CC likes being able to bend the ear of someone on Group staff.
We have a former squadron CC who went on to become wing king and is currently on Region staff. Trust me, he's welcome to stop by and say hello anytime.
aww, don't go to wing staff - that's where senior members go to die. Like Florida.

I'm on FLWG staff; does that mean a double death?
Probably. Or since they call Florida "God's waiting room," it might be like the priority room or something.
Can't see being on Florida Wing Staff means a death sentence. They dont do eanything except relax.
