Title: Auto-Notification from E-Services?
Post by: A.Member on December 15, 2009, 06:34:57 PM
Does anyone know if e-Services has an auto-notification feature?

I'd like an e-mail to be distributed each time a new member is added to our squadron (ie. once the membership is approved, a number is assigned, and the person is listed as an active member of our squadron).   Perhaps this is an option based on specialty track?  Or perhaps this is just wishful thinking all around.

No - or if it does it isn't working.

I asked ab out this a year ago when I noticed I was not getting any notifications on approvals and validations in my queue and was
told it was not an option at that time.

Whenever I transferred units or was assigned a new job position, I received an email. Don't know who else gets the email when that happens, or what else might have been covered.

The system could be better, but I don't know if the development team at National even really knows what people might want in the applications in Eservices. Maybe if we told them, they'd implement them.

You will get auto notification only for specific applications and not the entire system.

I inquired through wing to NHQ recently about upgrades and additions to the function of all system modules.

The response from the head of IT was no changes to any system are allowed without the approval of the IT committee at NHQ.

I am working on a writeup for several applications (including the notification system) that my Wing CC said he will take to the NB meeting in the summer.

^ Perhaps ONE SINGLE location for ALL reports.  Maybe under the "Commanders Corner" or "dashboard" we can have every single report on our screen.  I would also like to see the ability to self generate notifications.  Example: ORM Basic is required, we (as Commanders) can tell the system, "send me an email" when Cadet Jobob completes it.

Anyone else have something they would like to see added??  Perhaps if enough of us send up the same recommendations they may be considered?!?!

I would much rather it be in an application like Member Reports, which already contains a vast number of reports useful to alot of people.  If I recall, some of the reports there are already linked to in Commanders Corner.  The reason why I say not Commanders Corner or Commanders Dashboard is that not everyone who needs reports are Commanders, and only commanders and Deputys/Vices get access to Commanders Corner.

Some place where we have a direct ear to NHQ/IT would be awesome to have/use, I know I have submitted many suggestions (most of which have been implemented) via the CAP Help Desk, https://capnhq.crmdesk.com/ask.aspx  Every CAP member has an account, and your automatically logged in if you click on the Help Desk link in eServices.

Ms Padgett generally actions each new "ticket" within 72 hours (giving time for the weekends), and by action I mean either responding or assigning it to the appropriate person on the IT staff.  Sometimes depending on the selections you make when filling out the form on the link above it will automatically be assigned to someone else like Mr Meanor who is the head of the dev team.

Member Reports in E-services has a report that lists new members, just put in the dates you want and it will list them. IE Dec 1, 2009-15 Dec 2009. Real easy, just have to know that the report exists.

I think you're missing the point.

We are looking for a system that doesn't require us to go to the information.

Why should I have to check E-services everyday to see if a new membership is posted?  When it would be much more efficient for an automated system to just tell me.

I'm not trying to invent a system that rewards laziness, or allows people to say "I didn't get the message" I'm simply trying to create a system that eliminates wasted keystrokes and time.

I would also like an option that lets me click a member and tell the system that "this member is inactive" for whatever reason, do not include him or her in my reports, or ledger count numbers.  This would benefit me, and let the Organization who "really is a member" and who is just a "placeholder" or "number multiplier".

Can we also get the "prospective Member Report" sent once a week to our emails??  That would be awesome.

^ That already exists.  You can find it under the transfer module and select "000" and the receiving unit.

That's what patron status is for - as a commander you can move a member to patron whenever you want.  I personally prefer 000 as it moves them off my books for good.

Beat me to it (though you can't push people to 000, you have to request the Wing pull them in...)

How so?

Change to Patron status keeps a member in the same unit. Transfer to 000 removes a member from their present unit, and can ONLY be accomplished by action from the wing.

Sorry let me aim my sarcasm more precisely to avoid any further undue and over thought confusion.

How do I make a member a patron??  Must it go through to Maxwell on Paper, or do I call membership services??
