Excellent video (remember the footage is from the 60's) of a AF Jet zooming through the Grand Canyon.

Wow, that would almost be worth becoming a pilot for.
That was FRACKING awsome!
P.S. The flight ops building they were standing at in the middle of the video is still at Nellis!
Probably a bit tame for an RAF pilot. I saw several RAF jets doing things like this in the canyons and hills of central Scotland many years ago. They don't have the same rules that we have about flying low(or at least they didn't in 1975).
Korea doesn't have this sort of terrain, but I saw a number of hills and rice paddies from about the same altitude in a Mohawk at 220 kts.
Used to see German pilots zipping through the hills in F-104s; what a great ride that must have been. I got to fly in an F-111F from Sacramento up through the mountains with "200' - hard ride" dialed into the terrain following radar. Sweet Jeezuz what a ride.
That 111 ride must have been a hoot. I had one once in an F-100F and we did a lot of low level out in Kansas and Arkansas: no terrain to speak of but a good ride anyway.
Closest I've done to this was google earth with the f-16 model in it.
:)
WHAT A RUSH! Those T-birds were classic. Only one I've seen in 20 years was at the Air and Space Museum at Dulles. Too bad there's not many around.
That would have been a horrible place for a flame-out, though.
Did something like this when I was on active duty in Hawaii. In the interior of the island is all gulches. These are really narrow valleys that are several hundred feet deep and the sides are covered in jungle like growth. Not real fun to walk through especially if you have to cross three or four to get to your objective. But they are real fun to fly through in a Blackhawk or a Huey. One second you can see nothing but sky and the next you are watching the creek bed flash by at a high rate of speed. Then just for fun, you pop up over a ridge and down into the next gulch and then wait for your stomach to duplicate the manuever.
There's an IMAX film from the late '80s or early '90s with some AF jet flying below the rim (not like the one posted above). I think they were F-15's? It's been awhile. The film was about "flight". The canyon segment was a short part of it.
Mirages , F5's and F-18's through the Swiss alps with Evanescence as the sound track.
