Time to celebrate your retirement from the CAP LPA (Lieutenants' Protective Association)!
^^ My retirement will be processed in Feb. Congrats
Yea, but in eight months I become a 'hinge'. Definition below is strictly Squiddie, but could also be applied to the Air Force as well:
QuoteHinge: slang for an O-4, or Lieutenant Commander (LCDR). So called because of the lobotomy that is supposedly mandated as soon as a naval officer is promoted to this rank, in which half of his brain is removed. A hinge is then inserted that allows for reattachment of the removed gray matter later. The hinge also limits the LCDR's head movement to the fore-aft axis. This is clearly demonstrated as the O-4 is constantly nodding in the affirmative and saying "Yes sir, yes sir..." when in the presence of the CO.
:D
I know we're getting way off track here, but that's the first time I've ever heard that term, and I've been around the Canoe Club all my life. It must be a "modern Navy" term.

And we old timers are fond of saying... "the Ooooooold [insert branch of service] was the best [branch of service]!"
